Author's claim: the stripes (north, central-south, south Pacific) are routed toward the tip of the pear.
Targets: final contact (footprint from the bends) centre 8.7N 167.7E, radius 1,500 km; tip of the pear (6,000 km) centre ~6N 179.5W, radius 3,000 km; detachment region as estimated in Paper 9.
Method: trace each major fracture zone visible in the GEBCO hillshade from its American end westward while clearly visible; fit a great circle to the westernmost traced portion (last ~1/3 of points); extend it westward; record the minimum distance of the extension to the footprint centre and to the tip centre.
Criterion: "points at the footprint" if min distance <= 1,500 km; "points at the tip region" if <= 3,000 km from tip centre; otherwise "misses". Report every traced stripe, no selection after the fact.
